DWTS Backstep: Week 2

Warrants and Disclaimers:  I’m not sure if I can promise such a thorough recap each week, so if you can’t stand to read all of this, don’t worry.  Also, you may notice that many of my comments are about peoples’ looks.  I apologize for my superficiality in advance.  I dislike Carrie Ann and Brooke Burke immensely, in that order.   Female contestants have a much easier time on this show with a professional male dancer.  They just need to get slung around the dance floor.  Now, on to our couples’ review:

Shannen & Mark:  Wow, this was a complicated dance.  These two were not in sync, but they attempted a very difficult routine.  Shannen’s skirt was super cute – like I’d like to wear it every day.  An unrelated note:  I don’t remember her front teeth being so… prominent.

Aiden & Edyta: So intense!  Aiden threatens her during the practice:  ”Be patient or I’ll leave.”  OMG – seriously!?  Save the drama for the daytime soap.  They are an attractive couple, but I can’t get past his childish behavior.   This dance was pretty awesome though.  I thought they killed it.  xTian and I totally agreed they’re banging.

Evan & Anna: Spray tan catastrophe!  Sadly, I like his hair much better with a poof.  They’re a little abrasive toward one another – how many more weeks before she clocks him in the face?  Did they really need to bring up the Olympic Gold already in Week 2?  C’mon!  Nice fancy footwork.  Cute dance.  His height and skill advantage is so apparent; he’s like a jumping stringbean.

Niecy & Louis:  Normaly, I can’t handle so many bubbles in a personality, but she strikes me as adorable.  Her performance was a bit guarded;  she will need to loosen up.  Loved Bruno’s sentiment:  she’s a “strawberry milkshake”.

Jake & Chelsie:  Jake delivered predictably nicely in a plaid blazer.  It’s very likely that he borrowed this costume from LeTrois, but surely it looks much better on L3.  I don’t want to like Jake, but he did really well.  So much energy.  There’s a lot of potential in him.  Good gravy, he talks about “trusting your partner” being important in the competition.  CORRRRRR-NEEEEY!

Buzz & Ashly:  I love Buzz.  I just love him, and I think he’s doing awesome.  I voted for him 10 times.  The judges can !@#$% it.

Nicole & Derek:  NO!  NO! NO!  A bow from Carrie Ann – this just reinforces my intense distaste for her.  Two 10s.  Ugh, I’m so nauseous.  All skin and no substance.  Sorry, just don’t like Nicole.   Meow.

Erin & Maksim:  Intraweek gossip has these two hooking up.  (BTW, Maks was on Jersey Shore, right?)  I thought she was kind of annoying in the practice video, but on stage, she was really graceful and did a full-on split.  They were awesome.  BTW, I think I caught her chicken cutlet sticking out in a distracting manner.

Pamela & Damian:  Pam can definitely pull a lot of things, but she can’t pull off glamorous.   I think maybe because of her… I mean, she’s a little top heavy.  I know I loved her last week, but I’m over her now.  Boot!

Chad & Cheryl:  I really like this pair.  I thought he was a little stiff, but I’m optimistic for the future, and I am rooting for them.   I think the judges were too harsh, and Chad looked sad.  Boooo!

Kate & Tony:  Oh, the Drama.  The Arguing.  Threats of Quitting.  Pffffft, raspberries.  After 2 hours, I had zero patience;  I didn’t even bother to watch the 3 minute dance.

** My Prediction:  Kate gets the boot.  No one cares about her and she wants to leave on a dramatic high-note anyway.

I am reposting this question bc I am still curious.

Mamacita or any other DWTS expert,

Why are all the professional dancers either foreign or from Utah? Is Utah the US capitol for ballroom?

    Thanks!

3 posts in one day…was Mamacita off from work today?

methinks that Mamacita is marking her territory and KillerB2 better watch herself and stay off Outdated Movie Reviews, Celebrity Gossip and reality TV show recaps…

I love you Mamacita…your posts are the best. Manolo, you’re a trouble-maker. I agree, Kate should definitely get the boot…

Manolo is a trouble maker. Ask all the girls at flashdancers about that. They have some stories.

On DWTS (a show I ever watched before last night), why does Brooke cut everyone of when she asks them a question? Who does she think she is, Terry Gross? Brooke hates Nicole due to the competitive hotness corollary.

Did you guys know Carrie Ann was a fly girl? Also does the Hawaiian connection work in Nicole’s favor or against?

Top three likely hook ups on the show right now (% are semi arbitrary)
    Aiden & Edyta (75%), Erin & Maksim (65%), Pamela & Damien (50%)

    anyone think something different?

As a multi-season watcher of the show, I can state with the force of conviction that Edyta uses sex (and the promise of and withholding of sex) as a motivation tool for her celebrity partner. She is totally banging Aiden…or at least teasing him with the promise of sex if he gets a certain score.

On xTian’s list, though, I would move Chad and Cheryl up to the second spot. They are clearly banging. I’m hoping he requests a trade to the 49ers to be closer to her.

Kate’s dance was an absolute disaster, and she will be the first to leave.

Nicole was awesome and beautiful. Go Happas!

I disagree with Mamacita and the relative easiness of male v. female celebrities. I’ve always thought guys had it easier. All the guy has to do is be reasonably competent, let Edyta or Julianne Hough spin around the stage wearing less than a bikini, and watch the votes role in. Ginger Rogers used to say something about doing everything Fred Astaire did, but backwards and in high heels. I buy that. The women have it harder, which gives an advantage to couples with professional females.

I have never watched this show but I did take a master class with Edyta a few months ago. She is amazing. Her legs are a mile and a half long. Anyone would want to have sex with her. But she is married.

That’s awesome that you took a class with her!

But oh so naive. She is married to another dancer. Those deals are always either (1) beards or (2) greencard situations or (3) both. She is still free to motivate her students with sex.

sparks – good call – Ocho and Cheryl have great chemistry – as any brother will tell you – Cheryl is thick as hell…and I mean that as a compliment.

Do you think there are 4 highly likely hook ups or would you drop one of the three pairings I suggested?

Even my mom has a she-crush on Edyta. Her body is ridiculous. I would say that all 4 are likely hookups. Chad Ochocinco does not take no for an answer and Cheryl would probably do anything for publicity for her sure-to-need-more-business dance studio in San Fran. I like Maks and Erin. They seem well suited for each other, esp. since Maks broke off some engagement with Karina (my favorite!) and needs a rebound.
